Welcome to the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program in the department of psychiatry at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. This program is accredited through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, or ACGME, and welcomed its first class in July 2018. The goal of this two-year training program is to prepare highly skilled child and adolescent psychiatrists who can meet the increasing need for child and adolescent mental health care.

Fellows will care for a diverse youth population with a wide range of psychopathology (e.g., attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism, anxiety, bipolar, depression, eating disorders, PTSD, schizophrenia, substance use disorders and so on). Our training program allows fellows to practice in a variety of clinical settings (e.g. outpatient, inpatient, partial hospitalization, residential, substance abuse treatment facilities etc.). In addition, fellows will learn to become psychiatric consultants to pediatricians, the school system and the juvenile justice system.

Highlights of the child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training program include:

  • Continuous, two-year outpatient experience at UF Health Psychiatry – San Jose
    • All fellows will spend two years caring for patients at our main academic location with the supervision of our core faculty members. This longitudinal experience will allow fellows to develop long-term relationships with families, observe how clinical symptoms change over time and respond to various treatment modalities.
  • Inpatient, consult-liaison and partial hospitalization program rotations at Wolfson Children's Hospital, which has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of America's best children's hospitals
  • Electives offered throughout all 12 months of the second year so fellows are able to pursue research and/or specialized clinical experiences
  • Emphasis on integration of mental health in primary care through our collaborative care rotation (see Center for Collaborative Care)
  • Specialized rotations in:
    • Adolescent residential care
    • Autism
    • Child abuse and neglect
    • Dialectical behavioral therapy
