Elizabeth Mills, PsyD
Clinical Child and Adolescent Postdoctoral Fellow

As a Florida and Gainesville native, I am excited to return home and officially join the Gator Nation. Throughout my training and career, I have worked with individuals across the lifespan and a wide range of presenting concerns, with a particular focus on children, adolescents, and trauma-focused treatment.
My clinical experience includes outpatient therapy, neuropsychological assessment, emergent crisis intervention, and a wide range of evidence-based treatments. I have provided trauma-focused care to children and families through the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center, worked with individuals transitioning from inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, co-facilitated DBT groups, and provided Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to families of young children experiencing challenging behaviors. I also received specialized training in Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), which targets the treatment of Tourette’s and persistent tic disorder using.
Most recently during my internship, I worked as a research therapist with STRONG STAR, providing trauma-focused treatment to veterans through research trials in partnership with the VA and Department of Defense. My research interests have focused on traumatic stress, including the effects of violent media exposure and school shooting drills on mental health and perceptions of safety.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, hiking, gardening, and reading. I am grateful to be back in Florida and look forward to serving the community I call home.

Doctoral Program: Mercer University, College of Health Professions
A Chicago native, I’ve also lived in St. Louis, MO and Atlanta, Georgia before making my way down to Jacksonville for my postdoctoral training year. Trained in providing evidence-based assessments and interventions to individuals across the lifespan, I have developed a passion for working with children, adolescents, and their families. My clinical and research interests include mood and trauma-related disorders, adverse childhood experiences, and health psychology. For fun, I enjoy cooking, running, and spending time with my loved ones.
